The Sailor and the Sea

The sailer sees the see

With eyes eager to understand

Command the waters

Of the distant shores

To be a way of life

And nothing more

Away from the world that sinks us

From the high hopes of childhood

I discover the hope of the sailor

The perseverance

Of which I do not understand

The life or the man

But I can see a memory of this life at large

As a romantic painting on the wall

Of the gallery I have never been

To see a life lived

Setting sail

Again and again
