Eternity edges
On scaffolding ledges
Of high rises
Lifted and forgotten
Rolled up sleeves
And highly uncommon
Eternity edges
On scaffolding ledges
Of high rises
Lifted and forgotten
Rolled up sleeves
And highly uncommon
Shadow roll
Over the edges
Of crisp white walls
Windows ajar
With the sound of rumbling
Cars
Burning eyes
Full of
First time skies
Through the cadence
Of cars passing by
Lame lights burn
Incandescent glow
On the face of a man
In a restraint
Alone
Around him the burning glow
Of a personal computers
Impersonal glare
With not one care
Sun crisped palms
On a balmy winter
Day
In east LA
Dirt mounted walkways
Easy pathways
Going sideways
Today
Grey scale days
Faded into a misty
Afternoon
Full of reserved blue
As the days files through
Tile late on the night
Into the morning hours
Lake Michigan’s hue
On the evening
When the pastels turn
Deep blue
Tile nights see me through
Attention to detail
With both care
For the robust and pale
The sacred blend
Pulls the perfect mend
Of mint and coriander
Spice and meaty
The real taste
To run
And not meander
Press through
When the end feels more
Eminent than the future
When the light seems to be
Fading out
That is the point of relinquish
But don’t let it
Keep on
Back to the city
Where it all began
When I was a child
The first skyline
That my eyes took in
Formidable Lake Michigan
The lake that feeds us
But almost took my life
Back to Chicago
We go
