Unwritten Clause

Momentary pause

The unwritten clause

Shutting the night down

Down

All

Around

The house smells like I remember

As a kid growing up

Holding moments in my head

Holding these moments

Until we all wept

The moments we spent in the house

Going away for a while

What we will have lost

We will have found

In the Chair

Don’t blame before you prepare

Don’t cast shadows

In hopes of despair

Why ask for forgiveness

When you have committed the crime

Why accuse others

When you do it all the time

The game is played

Fair and square

Now it’s your turn to sit in the chair

Read My Lips

Read my lips

It never happened

Poetry in motion

While bureaucrats are clappin

Watch my lips

While my hands are in action

Hope it never happened

What happened

What news

Its all so confusing

Shut it off

The world is not quite

So amusing

Civility

More fighting

Is it really needed

We are all tired

When we heard the call

And headed

Now more brutality

I thought we were headed

To civility

Goodness dear friends

What happened to us politically

Socially

When is the contest over

And the collaboration begin

When can we have forgiveness

For all of our vulgar sins

Not today I guess

As all hopes of civility

Renewed and put to the test

Running for the Straits

I’m tired of lies

Tired of “powerful voices”

People who dream

To have it all

And take it to the grave

And forget the rest of us

This is a test of us

To pull back the reigns

From the crazy trains

Running for the straits
