I pray
For a daily
Shelter
Away from the light
That is burning the ground
All around
I see a small whimper of
Hope
So I seek this hope
Daily
And reminds me to stay
Planted on the
Ground
I pray
For a daily
Shelter
Away from the light
That is burning the ground
All around
I see a small whimper of
Hope
So I seek this hope
Daily
And reminds me to stay
Planted on the
Ground
She stares
Through the window pain
With pain
Brain
Dead
And waiting for
The rain
To fall
Until the light of day
Is
Gone
The entirety
Of everything
Completely
Overshadows
Hope
As I knew it
A small growing birth of light
Is now just a ray of darkness
Mean
And stubborn
No holding space for others
When the hope
Is to worship
Oneself
Stored with the highest
Value
He sets his eyes
On the fight ahead
To take a moment
Truly
In peace
Of what is about to become
Of me
Built to last
The difficult
Past
Future unknown
But what is sure
Is that survival
Will be made
Through the thinnest
Path
Forward
More confused today
Than yesterday
Wait until the light
Is gone
And the room is dark
Then real confusion
Sets in
The time and place
When all is unknown
And every difficulty
Must be faced
In lower Manhattan
Where the wind blows
Over the concrete of
Filled spaces
The mind can wonder of a world
Far away
But right in the city
Where the light shines
Bright
The vast nature
Of the world
Seems to override
My own ability
To understand
What is happening
Across the land
From ocean to ocean
The wide expanse
Is contracting
Into one confusing
Mess
The melt
On a 100 degree day
In Northern Michigan
In the fall
Unlike any other
Before
The heat bears
Witness to the
Feelings we have
That life is not quite
Normal
These days
It was a small showing
If anything at all
It was easy going
For what I like to call
A distraction of faith
Is on the hands
Of those
Whose
Decisions were
Made
