Little Life

Who’s life is this

The working man

Working for his family

To make a life real and true

To feel the need to push

Against each other

To create what we believe

To be fair and equal

But rather inequality

Is the goal

On full display

With no where to go

So why is that we have

Changed our values

In such a short time

No way up

Is the call of the cheap kind

Taking their time

To stab each working man

In the back

Blistered

A blistered approach

To an old problem

Good old fashioned

Hard work

Sweat

And tears

Creates a life

Full of delayed

Gratification

But in that

There is hope

That for tomorrow

Will bring

A better day

Setbacks

One moment away

Can be eternity

If the pieces fall

In the divide of time

Where even a minute is

Too late

To take the setback

Is to be bold and weary

Upon the arrival

Of another day

The Facade of Justice: Reflections in Verse

Object to the days rule

The judge high off in distant

Gown

Draped over the isle

Where I sit

Pretending to listen

To care

When I know that

The judge there is a facade

Of what we are supposed to feel

But I keep quiet

Keep my peace

For another day

Tearful

A tearful return

Through hope and sadness

Blend unimagined

To see through

The blurriness of tears

Fallen

One after the other

So take time today

To cherish those you love

And say

I love you

Trite

The medieval kind

Of living

Well overdone

Thinking

To see what a

World

Has to hold

Through the generations

What can I learn

From the mistakes of the past

To hold up the real future

To see what we are

Capable of

Southern

A southern twist

To the week

When we are in the open

Holding hands with the future

Of our own trials

And tribulations

So a southern move

Is in store

For the world

And for my now

Sights

Title

The title was nothing more

Than a word

Meaningless in form and

Shape

So today I set out to

To learn a new title

For myself

One that I yet don’t seem to

Understand

In that darkness

I am fine

To learn

What my title will

Be
