Constricted Constrained and Confused

Constricted constrained and confused

The moment lies in being used

Or to entertain

I am now bemused

To join these two thought

To create a soothing fluid

Of constant reminders

Of what happened in the past

In the moments viewed

Through the glass

Making my eyes see the world

Around me

That is the confining thought

I cannot see without them

In the summers brought

New ideas and constraints

The glasses around me

My new mind contains

Mr. Dylan

The beginnings of a song about how it seems that peoples belief in song has died. It has gone away with our generation – not that it is a bad thing – but things are changing. If I had a chance this is what I would want to ask Dylan, Seeger, and Lennon. It is a work in progress but it will someday become a song. Cheers and enjoy.

Hey Mr. Dylan is there anything else you would say

Hey Mr. Dylan would you show me how to play

Hey Mr. Dylan would you do or say anything more

Hey Mr. Dylan the kids don’t care anymore

 –

Then one day

The songs will just fade away

And we will all go back

And live some other way

If you really must go

Please remember this

I am nothing more

Than some silly altruist

 –

Hey Mr. Lennon would you sing it again

Hey Mr. Lennon things are so different from back then

Hey Mr. Lennon how did you write those songs

Hey Mr. Lennon it seems what you started is gone

 –

Then one day

The songs will just fade away

And we will all go back

And live some other way

If you really must go

Please remember this

I am nothing more

Than some silly altruist

 –

Hey Mr. Seeger can anyone around here still hear

Hey Mr. Seeger no one listens to songs with ipods in their ears

Hey Mr. Seeger I am doing the best that I can

Hey Mr. Seeger the songs are dead and I have no plan

Net Worth

What is your net worth

Go you! Proclaim it throughout the earth

Ring it on high

Ring it on low

Bring a receipt

Wherever you go

Remind your friends with cash in hand

Even pay for them to see your favorite band

“I wonder how much they are worth”

Surely not as much as me

I am sure my banker would agree

Ring the registers from on high

It’s like pie falling from the sky

I will stand with my hands ready

To grab what is mine

Might just take one of yours

But hey who is keeping score

Now get my car and call me lady

You know this part of town can get quite shady

Maybe I should not be quite so loud

I mean I do not want to attract a crowd

Who knows what that will mean

It was my pie I found,

I thought I caught it

But please don’t bring those fellows

Who want to conduct the audit

If leverage is leverage

And bottom line true

The bell rings cold

When the receipt reads past due

Extend me some credit

Just a little more

I just want to settle the score

But the banker looked confused

This analogy he used

“The way I see it

To make this all easy for me and you

Upon every mans head it should be written

Two decades and a half after their birth

So he may proclaim it throughout the earth

But for now I must ask you again

What is your net worth?”
