Lake Michigan’s Lullaby

The lulling of a lapping fresh

Water ocean

On the shores of the Indiana National Lakeshore

Bring the eyes easier

And to the full

Thought

Of the Lullaby

Sung by the lake

And it’s deep blue rhythm

In the vast nature

The swell of the water

Brings us back to the life

Before life

In all of it’s glory

It brings us more life

Through the sway of

The release

On the heels of Chicago

And the Wabash

And over the water

From the State of Michigan

Where Angels Tread

Upon a light foot

Of feather wind

Born on the evening

And raised in the morning sun

The angles tread

In the words with us

In our spirits

Unseen

Protecting the feeble and

Weary

And powering the peaceful

So take heed today

That we go

Where the angels tread

When the Wind Remembers Your Name

All else has failed

The world is simply

Upside down

Good is bad

Bad is good

All is against all

In a darkness no one

Understood

Would take us back

To a place of proclaimed hate

For those against us

And as the darkness falls all around

In the quiet

In the depths of a plane night

The wind will remember your name

Chicago Fog

A dense word of sorts

From the tops of the lights

On the buildings shoes

Only seen in the heavy

Dew

That drapes the water

Lapping the shores

Of Lake Michigan

And down the Wabash

And around to Lake Shore

The call of the Ferris Wheel

And the laughter of the people

Walking side by side

Riding in cars as they

Go by

The fog of Chicago makes a big

City small

With only what you can see

And that is all

The Lament of the Prairie Wind

The lament of the prairie wind

As the world spins on

Reckless with disregard

As the grass

Flows

Back and forth

The sun hits just one tree

Standing in the distance

As the time of

The world we know

Goes by

Lanterns in the Fog

Lanterns burn in the fog

Over a street of stone

Heavy fog

Over the eyes

Crisp clicking

Horses

Play the notes

Of a full scene

Emboldened

In the spirit of

Spring

In the London

Streets

In the evening hours

The lanterns

Burn on

When Silence Speaks

Can you hear it

In the midst of hate

Yelling loud and undone

When the loudest in the room

Is the undoing of our world

When silence speaks

Is when change happens

For the good

As we take on another

Life

The Salon in Town

Words carry over

The stream of hair blowers

Coffee drifts away

As the clients come and go

In the warmth of the winter

With frozen streets

So gently iced

Yet full of times

In the city in the heartland

The lights of the city

Bear a hope

That the world can see

Beneath the Ice, a River Dreams

Where the river flows

Over the lands below

Carried along the banks

Along the land

Above the water the life that lives

In the mind of the lives

Lives

Dreams

Under the sheets of frozen ice

There is a warmth of hope

That glows

As the world ices over

Only the heart can melt

The icy river
