Hope for new
Hope for life
Hope for love
Hope for you
Hope for new
Hope for life
Hope for love
Hope for you
Bandage my head with wires
Internet strewn bandage
Around my eyes
Holding in my brain
For the words
I see printed on the screen
So indignant
Mean
My hands swollen with anger
Frustration
How can it be that the world
Can be so indifferent
So mean
Friday nights
With little to move
Setting out
Deep cut groove
Holding hands
Kissing to make up
What has been lost in a long week
Building up
But weak in the knees
Friday nights
Feeling free
The wires in my head
Disconnected
Laying in bed
Wondering of the rituals
To keep
And destroy
Homeless
But idle my hands my not be
Idle my brain wishes upon me
The wires wrought with contentious
Idea
Waiting to fall asleep
What will this new morning
Bring
The studio
Warm with tubes
Burning low
Lights dim
Soft and bent
Clear vocals ring
In my ear
Songs and ideas
A sea of worth
Lapping the sand
Emotion and time
All along with
Desperation and love
Fades into the studio
The static crew
The wrecking crew
What on unearthed
Can we ourselves
Not undue
Checks and balances
Out of control
Weeping
While the world rolls
On
So much information
Overload
24 hours news cycle
Ride and race
The bicycle
I met a man name Stone Cold
He lives on the outer rim of Detroit
He told me the city is more dangerous
Than ever
That the house that he cared
For his dying mother
Is falling apart
And the walls are caving in
He is doing his best
But he feels it means nothing
He aspires to rap and make a living
He has dreams
We have dreams
We dream together
Of something better
Where the walls don’t fall in
While you watch your own mother die
In the rim of Detroit
People have dreams
But life slips away
While taking care of loved ones
In this country
In our backyard
We took a picture together
I wished him the best
I wish I could do more
I wish I could do more
Lord watch over Stone Cold
It was once a car
A materialistic capitalistic
Cause
Anyone who looked at it deeper
Thought there might be
Something wrong
Until a slight change in perspective
A change in view
Created something new
48,000 miles with a view
Of a country on the ropes
In fighting and such
What was need was a crutch
So this car became a symbol
The symbol a journey
The journey a legend
And a legend to history
It is the story of the unity car
Making its way across the country
Bringing people together as a community artwork
Bringing people closer together
Each and every mile
Sweet spring
Wind blown
Thawed fields
And streams
Back from blight
Of winter
Newly renewed life
Back from the darkest days
Renew the summer
Bring the light
Sweet spring
In my sight
How much uncertainty is needed
To go forward
Known of unknown
How could we be certain
When we know
Everything is truly uncertain
Remain in the moment
Remember that we can only do our best
Keep going
Even as auctions end
New opportunities grow
So here is to our future
Now we go
