Chicago Coffee

It’s been a long while

Waiting in lines for a cup

Passing through the city

On a grey day

The bustle moves through

As the city churns on

But the memories it brings back

I’ve been missing all along

To take in the moment

And don’t let it go

Chicago is the city

I saw first as a child

From Michigan City

Now I hold the memories

And what they

Mean to me

Simple Times

Were there ever simple times?

A time when everything was smooth

As the morning dew

Rather I object

That time neither existed

In romance or

Realism but

Was a fragment

Of imagination

Lodged in the hopeful

For today is the day

Of hope for me

Regardless of the fate I see

We start in with

Today

The Glove

If the glove fits

But what if it’s not your glove

But found from someone

Else’s mishaps of the day

Rather return the glove

For in time the glove of mankind

Will wrap you with goodness

And that will be

Your place to see

When all is right

It can set you free

Back to Back

Facing the opposite direction

We do not see each other

Our struggles are the

Same

Our voices ring together

But blindly we walk away

As to not help each other

For we can’t help what we can’t see

If only

We could turn around

And see

Other standing right

Next to us
