Fear will not overcome
Truth, hope, love
Can not come undone
Swat at the sun
Sit and suck your thumb
Hopes of fear
Small minds have
Truly will never overcome
Fear will not overcome
Truth, hope, love
Can not come undone
Swat at the sun
Sit and suck your thumb
Hopes of fear
Small minds have
Truly will never overcome
It’s not the consequences
Of my actions that scare me
It’s the consequences of my inactions
That scare me
The rain collects
Small pools on the ground
The peeling of the rubber
From the ground
The great majesty
Of buildings
Disappearing in the up high
The ominous tapestry in the sky
Unfold the fog from morning sights
Wake a new
The New York Skyline
Quick beeps and parked cars
Sirens alarm
Back up quick
Away from harm
The simplest yet amazing charm
From Brooklyn over the East arm
I breathe out
And hold the next
How this city is quite simple
Yet eternally complex
The smell of linens
Warmed hot in driers
Lamp post
Stuck with weekend fliers
Rusted out steel on buildings facade
Bustling traffic on Kenmare
I make my way to the Williamsburg Bridge
Over the eastern edge
And back to Brooklyn
No more than a bed
To call my own
The only options are rent
No hopes to own
So our time here is quick
Subtle and sweet
Seeing some familiar
Faces out on the street
The people still hustle
Just as I remember
Checking in 2 months past
September
The city sways easy in Autumn leaves
Until it will soon be our time to leave
What is safety
Pushed away unsafely
City streets stirred up and shady
It seems a story slams the headlines
Daily
The feeling is uneasy
Slightly crazy
How is it that civilization
Can never be quite content
Individuals looking for a reason
For the greatest descent
Wake up on Monday morning
The headlines read
3 men attacked with guns
On the streets
New York City
In the highest of high rises
No reason to sympathize
For one foolish man
Can bring down the hearts of 3
Right on the streets of the city
Disputes, commutes, early mornings
No sudden warning
My wife and I were only 4 miles away
Uneasy it seems these days
Life can be short of pretty
On tough days in New York City
Complicated questions
On complicated days
Complicated thoughts
On complicated days
De-complicate me please
Set my uneasy thoughts at ease
Soon I will smell an autumn
New York City breeze
McCarren Park through the trees
De-complicate my fall
In the city
So I can enjoy the beauty
Of the pretty city
A mind scattered
Pulled apart and tattered
Will make not one noise when shattered
Yet others will wonder and chatter
With him there is something wrong
Something must be the matter
But no words will be used to flatter
My uneasy life matters
The greatest of all challenges
Of my generation
Will be to see a life we once had
Nod to a fleeting moment
That the future has no place for the past
Endless consumption could never last
In the place of old habits
Birth new minimal ways
To say
That we no desire what we need
Rather than the desire of heart
We will fight our inner conflict
Lives lived between iron curtains thick
Of inter web communities
It will the true call of unity
When we give up a hand
Rather than an app
We come back to making the US great
Rebuild and innovate
That is my hope
Upon decimated buildings
We can build a new future
With knife and suture we will repair our wounds
Unto prosperity bound
From town to town
Reclaim forgotten ground
Back at it again
It’s the name of the game
Fears and road blocks
Float away like melodies
Melodies in the easy wind
I come back to the writing
Uneasy and writhing
But the words fall from my mind
To my hand
Drift from a lovers hope
All the way back up the rope
I start back up
Like a stiff old startup
Rise up
And write again
How many words can fit in this line
So many life experiences
In so little time
Underlined by growth
Participation
In the whole world
As a congregation
To sum up the last weeks adventures
I would have to surrender some details
Only focus on what come initially
Practically rather than brilliantly
I have flown over the ocean
Swam in the French Rivera
Been pummeled by rain
Been in a plane scared
Taken a train
Halfway across Europe
Eaten dinner out of small tin cups
Watch sunsets over the Mediterranean Sea
Seen things
I probably shouldn’t have seen
Watch a double rainbow extend over the mountains
While lovers kissed
Made friends
In true simpleness
Had conversations well past the finish line
Share a romance well past my time
All of these images
Are hard to fit in the lines
But I try
As the world changes my eyes
All things constant under the wool sky
