I try to move
Snow
I try to plan
Snow
I try to move again
More snow
I try to plan again
Even more snow
I try to move
Snow
I try to plan
Snow
I try to move again
More snow
I try to plan again
Even more snow

Cellophane pictures
Cell phones
Talking
Bitter feelings
Emerge
Conceding nothing
Taking everything
Consumer products
Produced with ideals
Placement perfect
A mechanical seal
Touching fingers nimble
A relevant symbol
Memories commemorated
Can be used and heard
With these
Cellophane pictures
Late Night Disdain
–
Late night disdain
Where bloodshot eyes
With tiny red vanes
Are the common strain
Overdoing every simple task
Trying to stretch each moment
To get a little more
Than the last
This bloodshot haze has me
Gripped and held
I must find a bed
So my body can be held
And sleep
Turn wake
And sleep
My eyes look upon
Something strange
Minutes before dawn
The peace of moments new
A day anew
The weary eyed few
That arise at this hour
Stumble fourth
And yawn to the heavens
Like gentle flowers
We make our ways
Through streets frozen cold
Filled with feet of winter snow
In the city of Chicago
Yet we go
Be it train or car
Foot or bus
We go
To our locations
Bustling confrontations
From skyscrapers
To the subway underneath
Life today is cold
Yet joyous
Continued on with a chorus
Of horns and tires
I salute you Chicago
In the morning hours
We find our purpose
Amongst the weeds
Burst these most beautiful flowers
Shuffled feet
Shouting from pavement
Filled with snow piled black
With dirt and rocks
City people making their way
From one city block
To the next
Steps taken
In order and out of
Spring waiting
For winter to fall
Weeks away
This contest of will power
Contested against the elements
Makes me wonder
What am I doing here
Consistency is key
To uniquely creating
Intentionally
Commitment to one
Undone with time
Consistency
Sets me free
Or holds on to me
It is consistent
That I will be
Is there a right
A place where you can be alright
Whether the answer is yes or no
Is there a right
Can one truly be wrong
Without any truth answered
Unresolved
Uncontested
If there is right
Can I choose this
Rather than choosing wrong
Can I choose it
Or does right choose me
Will it pick me up
Or let me be
Can I only know right
If I had been wrong
Right must appear
Through frustration and hope
But in the end I know
I hope
I can choose what was right
Because life is short
Yet days can be long
I hope that in the end
I can choose
Right from wrong
10 feet of snow coming
Fresh bread on the counter
Waiting for the snow to come
Can’t leave
Worst storm in years
Mother nature throwing it in high gear
Dusting trees and coating drives
Glad to be warm and alive
They say it could reach 50 below
Plus at least 4 feet of snow
Today alone
Tomorrow will bring frigid air from Canada
Going be hard to see what happens to us
But we are warm
Inside a home
So there is no reason to be alone
We watch the weather and stay warm
This is the Midwest
So we come prepared
Where there is ice and wind
We burn through without a care
But this snow is different
Not quite so innocent
We will wait and we will see
What this winter storm
Will turn out to be
We lie and wait
For our inevitable
Changing fate
There is no crime in worry
All these changing events
With no grand hurry
This Thursday we depart
Lost belongings and hanging art
We long for the new feeling
Creation of our being
This is the call we are heeding
We depart in only days
So many miles away
We find new hope and worry
This will come on a normal
January morning flurry
Hard work sucks
It beats you up
Tears you down
All the while
The world spins round
The commitment must not waiver
Construction creation and assemble
Hard work makes you stronger
Sunrise sunset
Making you better
With every practice set
It is staying up late
And waking up early
From Thursday to Thursday
Everyday is a workday
It’s opportunity seen
And opportunity taken
No questions asked
No errors mistaken
Hard work wakes you up
And keeps you up
The competition grinds
While you fill your cup
With more coffee to keep going
Never stop
Never slowing
It frustrates and confuses
Engages and amuses
This is what I have learned about hard work
So when you shake my hand
In my eyes you look
The lines in my skin
I have earned
With every opportunity I took
