Acute Courage

Acute courage

Lingering verbiage

Subservient against

The grain

Go

Getter

In a time of full blown fear

Tearing at our hearts

And minds

Acute courage is needed

In the thickest of weeds

So that the strong can truly

Be

A Rotten Destiny

A rotten destiny

Filled with blasphemy

Blaming infamy

Of tyranny

On the everyday man

And woman

Even

And odd

But when people die

Not even the truth can imply

That responsibility is ours

Behind these bars

I scream

Favor Folk Music

Favor folk music

Stories and lines

Mixed up intertwined

Amongst the Nasville Skyline

To the Manhattan Subway

The flavor to favor

The music in the air

Folk music stories

Take me there

Reasonable Christmas

Reasonable Christmas

With a happy start

With minds open

To the lines read from the sky

Happy friends and family

In great consultation

Avoiding politics

Or resignation

For a meager celebration

Hands together

For its a reasonable Christmas

Given the weather

Atlantic and Pacific

I am no expert

I speak with no certification

Validation

Or Accreditation

This great nation

Built certainly through a process

Of migration

We must hold true

To life, liberty, and freedom

Now we contemplate

Such great

Changes

As 2016 is brought in

I hope the best in the year to come

For the nation that lies

Between the Atlantic and Pacific

And under the sun

Tokens of Life

What is the cost of a dream

Not the capital or the initial investment

More importantly the hours laboring and spent

Rather than being well rested

What is the emotional cost

Is it two tokens

If I could somehow come up with a value

Two tokens of life

If it all works out do you get those back and more

Are you delivered from seeing your time

Wasted in hopes of achieving

Rather than just ending poor

And broken

What is the average

Per day

If not achieved is it wasted

Thrown away

Can I accept this

Failure is only owned when you label it

Give it a name and recognize it

But I refuse to do so

Call it reckless

But this is how it goes

I must continue on this path

Continue to let go

To see anything through

Through and renewed

To see what these life tokens can do

Lines on my Skin

Hard work sucks
It beats you up
Tears you down
All the while
The world spins round
The commitment must not waiver
Construction creation and assemble
Hard work makes you stronger
Sunrise sunset
Making you better
With every practice set
It is staying up late
And waking up early
From Thursday to Thursday
Everyday is a workday
It’s opportunity seen
And opportunity taken
No questions asked
No errors mistaken
Hard work wakes you up
And keeps you up
The competition grinds
While you fill your cup
With more coffee to keep going
Never stop
Never slowing
It frustrates and confuses
Engages and amuses
This is what I have learned about hard work
So when you shake my hand
In my eyes you look
The lines in my skin
I have earned
With every opportunity I took
