I Grew

Unbending hope

Pulled out from under me

Hands tight on the rope

The feelings of letting go

Blown around

My hope preservers

That good people walk next to me

Alongside my steps

Friends walking with friends

That is the beauty of the ascent

To find more of myself the what I knew

To realize instead of shrinking

I grew

Weak Minds

The greatest challenges

Undermine the weakest minds

Land mine

Underpinned in time

Joker of the rhyme

We had our chance to escape

And we did

Into home base we slid

Eyes closed

And off we go

On a journey that knows

No boundaries

It just flows

We are more water than wood

Slide through the alleys

And completely misunderstood

Unexpected Bends

The unexpected bends

Sends my mind reaching

To understand false premises

Canned

How did it fall apart

Was it a small piece

Of a master plan

Built a 4 story house

On weak sand

How could this be

A fallacy I see

Under me

The sand gives way

Now do I ever really understand

Weaknesses of sand

I tried to compensate

What what too complicated

Frustrated

But we will move on

On

And on

Anxious Crown

A man wearing an anxious crown

Throws back with withered thorns

The indignity of hope scorned

Must have a courageous play

To be once more adorned

His hopes as fragile as pencil

Under great pressure

Bending at the point

Of almost breaking

He takes a swig of heady liquids

Rising the spirits with his hand

Set out for a journey

Looking over the peoples land

His mind now deep in reflection

Of how his hope and optimism

Slowly grew into his flailing crown

Now is the moment to return

The curtains are pulled on the stage

One error has the potential to destroy

What he has crafted with single heart joy

His feet begin to move

At first wacky and unprotected

But with his heart projected

He steadies his feet and walks out

The light shines and this

Is his time

Emerald Eyes

Eyes like burning emeralds

On Florida Street

After the big shows

All the world knows

How those eyes glow

Flicker and grow

Dim buzz of the engine

In this car we sit in

But those eyes

Beautiful eyes

I know

I love

Our skin may weather

But eyes never grow old

In a city of eternal growth

We hold hands

And make a story our own

Capitol Stairs

Under the Capitals lights

Rising up into the sky

Armored city

In the night

White

Illuminated

Beneath a dark night blue

Holding hands

With plans

Of me and you

We share moments of growth

Rejuvenation shows

In the city that knows

No boundaries or barriers

Standing on the Capitol stairs

Monumental Strength

Share your story

From failure

To glory

Mornings evenings

How the birds sing

Make my ears ring

With hope and truth

The story of you

Become a bell of monumental strength

The life lessons you have gained

Contained inside and share with me

Your Story

Concern for the Flippant

A concern for the flippant

Out of control

Not quite with it

Skillful dismantling

Of the building hesitant

Space made imminent

I act with we

We must act manually

Connect rather than annoy

Hold hands and stand tall

Instead of hates deploy

The word we use to unite

Instead of looking for a fight

In a year 2016

Of light

Lyric Cut

A late night inspiration

Evenings in the capital

Of this beautiful nation

The Unity Collective USA

Spreading the message of hope

We hope to get across

Free the rock

From underneath the moss

Evening lights on the Capitol

Understandable

Building blocks we muster up

With every lyric cut

From the cloth of humanity

To reach out certainly

To the world
