Is never to complain
To ask to start again
To wither in the hope of progress
But to advance
Head above the dust
Feet planted on the ground
Working for the moment
Pushing all around
From the dash of the withered
One pushes slowly on
On and on
Up and up
Move any way
Rather than giving up
The ill-fated hum
Of a 4×4 truck
Settles in the distance
The United decisive blow
Given while the engine runs
Idle
To assume the worst
It’s in the title
The educated branch leans low
On day laced with regret
And pounding snow
Display the power
Training our eyes
Not to wonder
Bearing down
Fists of thunder
Hold our breathe
Let go
The ones who have the power
Will soon let us know
That when their rains come
They will be a shows
Of the terrible grips of power
We head again due west
On a uncertain journey
Chasing the calendar
Of hope and upcoming dreams

LA is sunny and people are happy
We have seen enough here
Here we are in Washington D.C.
Watching the change of the guards
On guard
It is going to be a day
Not to be remembered
But just another day

Many ships set sail at night
Setting sale in the winter
Protecting the sailors from
The evening’s blight
We have shared many meals
In this life
Made some jokes
And done alright
Friendship is a ship built together
Keeping us free from the blasts of the outer world weather
This ship has sailed for years
Our hearts have learned
Loved
Refined
Cheers glasses
And dined
From New York to Los Angeles
Bloomington to Fort Wayne
Our friendship is similar to back then
But not quite the same
Just as the weather can alter a boat
Over the years
So has our lives altered course over time
But it is true friendship that remains
At the core we are still the same
As when we boarded the ship of friendship
As reluctant strangers
We are now bound together
Friends all the same
