Relentless Fragile Pursuit

Hands back on the wheel

Teeth grit

Bones of steel

Resilient to temptations

Demands

Creative hold

On ready hands

No expectations

Of solving problems

From other worlds or nations

Commitment from within brings me back in

Hoping that words fabricating words can strike

Even the most tender of nerves

Excited to give back

Drawn back into the simple

Relentless fragile pursuit

Leftover Capitilizations of Yesterday’s Song

Sunday morning slugs along

Leftover capitalizations of yesterday’s songs

Missed opportunities

Overachieved success

Deep sleep

With much needed rest

The day brings opportunity

Challenges and breaks

Waiting for on relaxing Sunday ways

Until the week begins much slower

On Monday

Ubiquity in Equity

Off and running

We could not see it coming

The challenged faced

Could not be erased

Avoided

Or constrained

Ubiquity in equity

Understanding out diversity

Was the challenge we

Were presented

We sleep to rise

Rise to work

And push on again

Arthur on the Coast

Arthur hits the North Carolina coast

Fourth of July dampened roast

Fireworks can not be on display

In a southern fog of rainy days

Rotations of clouds

Moving up the eastern seaboard

The sparks of July will be postponed

Call waiting

Sitting on hold

The 4th of 2014 will be celebrated

Later than it seemed

As Arthur makes its way up the coast

Keeping people inside

Instead of a celebratory toast

Wake Up

Slip and Slide of Lethargy

Information technology

Slip and slide of lethargy

Connected eyes

With screens to see

Distracting cells of energy

I pull away empathetically

Hoping for some new life in me

How is it that machines can lock in

On holding tight to my time and skin

Settle my movements and actions

Taking me into dead satisfaction

I am weary of these offers

Video games makes normal

The martyrs

So I will walk away

Until the next day

The lights illuminate my face again

Time on the Run

Monday

Tuesday

Wednesday

Thursday

Friday

So long gone

So many more to come

Hours pass like minutes

Days pass like hours

Weeks pass like days

Months pass like weeks

Years pass like months

Growing up

Time on the run

I must settle myself

Settle these days down

To take in the beauty all around

Keep looking up

Only check once to look down

Hold Them Dear

We build houses

Trees with farms

We hold them dear

We create our own opportunity

From the sparse earth

We pull new life

Our own life and growth

We give back

In this line of work

Make discoveries

On weathered farms

Swollen Skies

Growing up

Under swollen skies

Making changes

In our parents eyes

Commitments made

Growing mistakes

We just have to do

Whatever it takes

I watch you grow

You watch me

We help each other stay

From as low as life

Can be

We wake up together

To see another day

Whether its the sun

Or the rain

We grew up under swollen skies

When the rain fell

It pulled the tears out of our eyes

Yet we pushed through

I get to see a new face

Through the rain anew

I am honored and proud

To be your husband

Under these dark rain clouds

Hard to Imagine

Its hard to imagine

Yet easy to see

Life grown

From sea to sea

City coast on eastern suns

To the simple life

Of farm living

What we see

Is what we are giving

The floors kept with field extras

Bugs, birds, dirt and all

We are held up

While the road calls

Be on your way

Where it takes us

Not for us to say
