Late Night Disdain

glass o coffee

Late Night Disdain

Late night disdain

Where bloodshot eyes

With tiny red vanes

Are the common strain

Overdoing every simple task

Trying to stretch each moment

To get a little more

Than the last

This bloodshot haze has me

Gripped and held

I must find a bed

So my body can be held

And sleep

Turn wake

And sleep

The Morning Salute

My eyes look upon

Something strange

Minutes before dawn

The peace of moments new

A day anew

The weary eyed few

That arise at this hour

Stumble fourth

And yawn to the heavens

Like gentle flowers

We make our ways

Through streets frozen cold

Filled with feet of winter snow

In the city of Chicago

Yet we go

Be it train or car

Foot or bus

We go

To our locations

Bustling confrontations

From skyscrapers

To the subway underneath

Life today is cold

Yet joyous

Continued on with a chorus

Of horns and tires

I salute you Chicago

In the morning hours

We find our purpose

Amongst the weeds

Burst these most beautiful flowers

Steps Taken in Order

IMG_5758

Shuffled feet

Shouting from pavement

Filled with snow piled black

With dirt and rocks

City people making their way

From one city block

To the next

Steps taken

In order and out of

Spring waiting

For winter to fall

Weeks away

This contest of will power

Contested against the elements

Makes me wonder

What am I doing here

Delays come in Every Shade

Delays come in Every Shade

Delays come in every shade

Some unintentional

Some man made

Waiting for the right time

Can be a distraction

While the postponing real resolve

Leads to the utmost dissatisfaction

Running around to wait

To see

To be there

When you need to be

Yet can all be delayed

Postponed

Forlayed

At some point

When the bags are packed

Forward progress has begun

And no looking back

Free yet cautious

Conscious decisions made

For not one more day

Can I be delayed

Let Us Auto-Tune Life

Let us auto-tune life
Then we can all be perfect
No longer would we
Have to deal with humanity
We would run flawless
No mistakes
Small flaw
Auto tune will show you the way
Pulling back to life pitch perfect
Staying away from flaws
Inherent in you and me
Our relationships perfect and plastic
Held on with nothin but auto-tune
Isn’t it fantastic
I can auto-tune my dog
His barks of baby laughter
Detach ourselves from realty
And just lay back
Then we can all have facades
While our humanity can be tucked away
For no one to see or share
Because we no longer need the human condition
Because auto-tune is there

The Relativity of Luck

Guts and glory
Unlikely story
Small town roots
Strapped up big town boots
Through determination
One finds success
In this great nation
Hard work means nothing
It is expected
Luck is where
Preparation and opportunity
Intersected
So no whining about conditions
Relativity
Is a state of mind
Than definitive
Hoping and wishing is bullshit
Work it till your hands bleed
And you’ll be a hit
Small town values
Work through adverse conditions
The ethics you learn
The routine you practice
Will outrun any superstition

Intentional Unique Consistency

Consistency is key

To uniquely creating

Intentionally

Commitment          to one

Undone with time

Consistency

Sets me free

Or holds on to me

It is consistent

That I will be

Is there a Right?

Is there a right

A place where you can be alright

Whether the answer is yes or no

Is there a right

Can one truly be wrong

Without any truth answered

Unresolved

Uncontested

If there is right

Can I choose this

Rather than choosing wrong

Can I choose it

Or does right choose me

Will it pick me up

Or let me be

Can I only know right

If I had been wrong

Right must appear

Through frustration and hope

But in the end I know

I hope

I can choose what was right

Because life is short

Yet days can be long

I hope that in the end

I can choose

Right from wrong

Vacuum Sealed and Sanitary

Life happens in a flash
One second you are on top
Then it’s gone in a dash
Life does not occur in a vacuum
Vacuum sealed and sanitary
Life happens
So time goes
It is customary
Releasing seconds
Into hours and days
Till the good lord comes a looking
They is nothing more to say
That if we forget that with times passing
Our fickle minds will fall too
There is no stopping the fate
That lies ahead
For me
And you

Dust Life Off

Working on waiting
Waiting to work
Life held up
Can be frustrating
Confusing
Held back
Downright
Bemusing
Pick life up
Dust it off
Get going
Go
Let go
Prepare
Live with no care
Work hard
Dedicate
Life is better
Lived this way
