Unequivocally Quick

Wandering as I am

There is no calculation to my risk

No easy decision

When it comes to my vision

My experiences are like

Chemical reactions

Exploding on contact

Creating action

As if a vase were nudged from the ledge

From a careless yak

My nimble mind has no conception of reality

Externally or internally

I am frightened by these revelations

How my ideas manifest in the most odd

Of gesticulations

So I sometimes back away from my hopes

Decisions and inquisitions

To better understand myself

In hopes of becoming the more informed

For that I am scorned

So my stays are unequivocally quick

I leave sojourned

On my journey from night till morn

I Owe You a Stare

I owe a stare to you

A stare of wonder

Concern

But more wonder than concern

I will become absorbed in your beauty

Radiant beauty

The odds that I could be

Completely absorbed in your smile

The way your throw your hair back

You could be a beauty ambassador

A lovely representative

I owe you a stare

To make you feel cherished

How great would the odds be

If I were a suspect on trial

That your eyes would lock back on mine

It could just so happen

That in this quick motion

Our eyes collide in meeting

Like atoms of plutonium

It will happen

I will stare

And nothing will ruin that moment

For I owe you a stare

Dime for Time

A relentless issue of the greedy

Pursuits of spending and waste

No roof would provide

The world over icy outside

Crayon spilled violently over white pages

Scribbled lines with indecent haste

Cheerful with eyes glowing

Taking more than they were sowing

Winning a competition that was never fought

Wrought over tiny pennies

Pulled up by the zipper

The hand held hopes of higher gods

No friend of mine

Owns more than one dollar for food

And dime for time

College mornings with hard set oatmeal

Making for an early meal

I make amens with cheap sunglasses

While the greedy take up their wicked flames

Oy Vey Sign

A flat in Brooklyn

With walls thin

Above a Patisserie

Is where you will find

Her and Me

Where the Williamsburg Bridge

Ends

Take a bend

Up north

On the Queens line

But just before the

“Oy, vey” sign

We have found in this confine

We can shine

Breaking out of our old lines

For these poems

Will always remind

Me

Of our time

In Brooklyn

Dine but not Confined

Thai food and conversation

How we can make a living

Across the nation

Assemble the team

Pour the wine

Make plans over

The meal we dine

Not confined to walls

And labels

Working hard to live in the

Arts

Stable

WE ARE UNSHAKABLE

Committed and clear

We set our sights

To the heights

Of what we can reach

And hear

Surviving or Thriving

Back at the grind

Spending every second

Every dime

New York time

The city where surviving

Is never thriving

So I dive in

Start to swim

Through the thick and

Thin

Wake up

And do it again

The Craigslist Table

The white table from Craigslist

Has earned it’s keep

In the apartment

A writers guide

To endorsing parchment

Upon it we have written songs

Lyrics

Poems

Its sturdiness is much appreciated

Anticipated

Held on

The white table

Is keeping on

A Better Bet

Unequal substitute

Fulfills a desire though

With nothing to shoot

It is the Scarlet Letter of clothes

The melted plastic of Pleather

Adorned on shoulders and cars

Filling up the seats of old bars

Rather than take life of an animal

Smooth to the touch

Offering a little much

More than a substance

An idea

Pleather over leather

Not ideal, never

It start rather

A car revving it’s engine

We are not moving yet

But it is a much better bet

The Eager Mantle

Notes unclear

A year newly wed

To the laughs of

What the joker said

Uneasy decisions

Laying upon eager mantle

It was never my plan though

It was unclear

A year of reflection

Upon the drum of my ear

Pounds the light sound

Of changing throughout the year

The change would happen

Regardless of my decisions

Blurred my future visions

So on a day of reflection from 2015

Much is to be seen

In 2016
