Steps Taken in Order

Shuffled feet

Shouting from pavement

Filled with snow piled black

With dirt and rocks

City people making their way

From one city block

To the next

Steps taken

In order and out of

Spring waiting

For winter to fall

Weeks away

This contest of will power

Contested against the elements

Makes me wonder

What am I doing here

Delays come in Every Shade

Delays come in Every Shade

Delays come in every shade

Some unintentional

Some man made

Waiting for the right time

Can be a distraction

While the postponing real resolve

Leads to the utmost dissatisfaction

Running around to wait

To see

To be there

When you need to be

Yet can all be delayed

Postponed

Forlayed

At some point

When the bags are packed

Forward progress has begun

And no looking back

Free yet cautious

Conscious decisions made

For not one more day

Can I be delayed

The Relativity of Luck

Guts and glory
Unlikely story
Small town roots
Strapped up big town boots
Through determination
One finds success
In this great nation
Hard work means nothing
It is expected
Luck is where
Preparation and opportunity
Intersected
So no whining about conditions
Relativity
Is a state of mind
Than definitive
Hoping and wishing is bullshit
Work it till your hands bleed
And you’ll be a hit
Small town values
Work through adverse conditions
The ethics you learn
The routine you practice
Will outrun any superstition

Intentional Unique Consistency

Consistency is key

To uniquely creating

Intentionally

Commitment          to one

Undone with time

Consistency

Sets me free

Or holds on to me

It is consistent

That I will be

Is there a Right?

Is there a right

A place where you can be alright

Whether the answer is yes or no

Is there a right

Can one truly be wrong

Without any truth answered

Unresolved

Uncontested

If there is right

Can I choose this

Rather than choosing wrong

Can I choose it

Or does right choose me

Will it pick me up

Or let me be

Can I only know right

If I had been wrong

Right must appear

Through frustration and hope

But in the end I know

I hope

I can choose what was right

Because life is short

Yet days can be long

I hope that in the end

I can choose

Right from wrong

Dust Life Off

Working on waiting
Waiting to work
Life held up
Can be frustrating
Confusing
Held back
Downright
Bemusing
Pick life up
Dust it off
Get going
Go
Let go
Prepare
Live with no care
Work hard
Dedicate
Life is better
Lived this way

Lie Our Trust in Hope

Runs strange
My world slowly rearranged
With challenge
Comes success
And lack thereof
We lie our trust in hope
Hoping all will go well
While there is no slowing
I arise early to heed the call
But some times there is no call at all
That is the problem facing my future
Facing what is there
And what is gone
What I have done
Talking in action
I must now react
It is as simple as that

Wait and See

10 feet of snow coming

Fresh bread on the counter

Waiting for the snow to come

Can’t leave

Worst storm in years

Mother nature throwing it in high gear

Dusting trees and coating drives

Glad to be warm and alive

They say it could reach 50 below

Plus at least 4 feet of snow

Today alone

Tomorrow will bring frigid air from Canada

Going be hard to see what happens to us

But we are warm

Inside a home

So there is no reason to be alone

We watch the weather and stay warm

This is the Midwest

So we come prepared

Where there is ice and wind

We burn through without a care

But this snow is different

Not quite so innocent

We will wait and we will see

What this winter storm

Will turn out to be

Lie and Wait

We lie and wait
For our inevitable
Changing fate

There is no crime in worry
All these changing events
With no grand hurry

This Thursday we depart
Lost belongings and hanging art

We long for the new feeling
Creation of our being
This is the call we are heeding

We depart in only days
So many miles away
We find new hope and worry

This will come on a normal
January morning flurry

Summer’s Corner

I will win

I will lose

Winter rolls in

Laying snow

Over scars soothes

We wait

We correct

Hoping for the best

We wait for summer’s corner

Or head west

We practice

We rehearse

Taking a chance

For no small splash

But a giant burst

I remember

I will win

I will lose

For my growing heart

This is no new
