Embark Blindly

29

The final hours down

I can’t say I regret much

Although loosing

Loved ones was rough

A full decade to reflect

Looking back at life’s intersect

Even as I fine tooth comb inspect

I am happy

Moving forward and not leaning back

Bursting at the seems

With high impact

I embark upon 30

30

It takes a moment to set in

Realize the final ringing of the bell

Not an ending

But a closing

Reaching back at this point

Has no meaning

Worthless in my attempts

My vain grabs at last seconds commence

As ten years of live conclude

I had counted down the months

Since I knew

27 turned 28

No big deal

28 turned 29

No 30 was in sight

And tonight

Tonight it sits quite real

Real indeed

It came so quick on my

With high velocity speed

So I reject with no anger or remorse

I will let time do it’s just course

Submit to the seconds that will bring about change

In my mind, body, and soul

I will celebrate my own growing old

But as these last moments unfold

I hope that I can do better in the next ten

No regrets

But not letting up

Seeing the next decade to the end

Age brings about wisdom

Which in turn sets me free

As I embark blindly

Upon the journey

Of turning 30

Cantankerous and Noisy

I know a ritzy town

Where the houses are big

Rigged with luxuries

The proposition tugs at me

But maybe I will head to Detroit

I am an artist

Hipster guess stereotyped

I find it rather terrific

To be cantankerous and noisy

Rather than sterilized to the squeak

That my shoes should rub on the floors

The thought of luxury affords me

Relinquishing in the laugh of heart

Maybe I will a piece of Detroit my own part

A small tin house on a hill

A fixer upper at will

Willingly I will go to the rust belt it seems

Although it may be perceived as synonymous

With crazy

At least I will try

Try it out in

Detroit

Decanter Fine Glass Drip

Summation of a uniquely

Different point of view

Innovating steps

Taken in front of you

The moment is savored

At first sip

Like a fine wine

Decanter fine glass drip

Through the opening

And into the reservoir

These sips taken

With berry bliss unmistaken

And later off to bed

True that the senses are awakened

Procrastinator once said

It is the morning anew

Where innovation feels dead

The hangover of a loving encounter

Must wake up and rub his head

It is in the small moments

That true doubt creeps in

The despicable little whim

Unable to see the finish line within

I fear these moments

When the moment become lackluster

I can’t phone in a true back buster

Muster up

Look up

You can see it through

If I just continue

Fundamentally: You and Me

The sense of unity

A deep spring within you and me

Is fundamentally

An idea which

We should all agree

Ideally

However when a evil tragedy

Strikes the innocents

Lacking any true humanity

What are we left with

Other than a hollowed out hope

A useless and frayed rope

I have a belief

That there is more to unite

Than to tear apart

We as humans all share a common heart

Not emotionally

Purely physically

We are born with brains and toes

We all face our challenges of growing old

Not all is lost in humanity

I just saw someone yesterday

Help a lost fellow on the street

Maybe a hope of full unity may fall away

The hands of each other

We somehow share a sense of commonplace

Deep within the human race

On a Monday it seems burned out

Washed up and worn out

The hope runs like a well deep underground

Running full but without a sound

I share this hope

That is the simple humanity of each other

That we are truly bound

Over a Cup of Tea

The morning rests soft

Easy speaking and waking slow

The summer breeze rustles

Through the soft flower leaves

Change has its way of breaking me

Lowering my tolerance for what is coming

Arise to life’s challenges yet

One by one

I hope my buffer for new will not come undone

I have heard stories of burn outs

Giving up

I know that the roads we create

Are not easy or clear

But what we do

We do for love

My dear

Sudden change is what we fear most

Life’s swelling waves

In a small fishing boat

Bail out the water

Keeping our heads above the sea

It’s a commitment we made

A long time ago

Over a cup of Darjeeling Tea

The Roaming Misfit

Some details are always secret

Frustrating and deliberate

Held back with animosity

Towards the roaming misfit

Truth is never quite told

Lies sleekly avoided

News spread through lies spun

Then voided

I hope to deal with such grace

That I can overcome dealing with

The real face

Of a roaming misfit

Hold my tongue in place

For when he shows up to my door

Waiting for the embrace

I will hold back the words true and harsh

Hoping for something more contained and smart

But the webs we weave

Some to build

Others to deceive

I know this now more than before

So I will smile with reserve

When this man shows up to my door

Creating Context

No one will sing my song

Others create

Borrow or steal

But my voice sings my life story

It must be from my own lips

Sung

Creating context for understanding this mess

Owning these words whether they be of beauty

Or of restlessness

It is my mission to create my story

No other hands have created

This life of simple strands

Woven around complex webs

Of inner circle steps

So no one will push my pen

My life’s commitment to the end

To be committed and honest

So I can be fully created

Life, lived, created lines

Easy or frustrated

Napkin Summer Heat

Napkin summer heat

With complete love

Competing interests

All this happened since

We made it back home

Away from the city lights

Living light

On July nights

Lakes and flies

Wrapped up into the life

Of warmth on the fourth of July

Unseasonable cold

Held us close in blankets close

For the napkin summer heat would expose

The thoughts of growth and getting old

Let us enjoy the days here

Spent on a simple life

Return the city renewed

Ubiquity in Equity

Off and running

We could not see it coming

The challenged faced

Could not be erased

Avoided

Or constrained

Ubiquity in equity

Understanding out diversity

Was the challenge we

Were presented

We sleep to rise

Rise to work

And push on again

Time on the Run

Monday

Tuesday

Wednesday

Thursday

Friday

So long gone

So many more to come

Hours pass like minutes

Days pass like hours

Weeks pass like days

Months pass like weeks

Years pass like months

Growing up

Time on the run

I must settle myself

Settle these days down

To take in the beauty all around

Keep looking up

Only check once to look down
